India’s Private sector to build rockets – ISRO Chief K Sivan says. The Union Cabinet approved the private sector to participate in the entire range of space activities including planetary exploration missions.

Private sectors can be part of the inter-planetary missions, said ISRO chief in a statement on Wednesday.

 

ISRO chief K Sivan announced on Wednesday that the Union Cabinet approved the participation and authorization of private sectors in engaging in interplanetary missions, which means, private sectors can now build Rockets, satellites and provide launching services.

This announcement has brought in curiosity as well as confusion among people as private sectors start to build rockets and satellites, they can be misused also for personal gains and purposes.

He said the private sector can also be part of the inter-planetary missions of the Indian Space Research Organisation.

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved participation of the private sector in the entire range of space activities, including planetary exploration missions.

Dr. Sivan, however, added that ISRO’s activities are not going to reduce and it will continue to carry our space-based activities including advanced research and development, inter-planetary and human space flight missions.
